General information on data processing
This website does not set any cookies for visitors and does not embed any third-party analytics, advertising or tracking services. For simple audience measurement, we count page views on our own server (see “Audience measurement without cookies”). Beyond that, we only process personal data if you actively provide it to us, for example via the contact or application form.
Server log files
When the website is accessed, the hosting provider automatically processes technical access data (e.g. IP address, date and time of access, page accessed, browser type). This data is technically necessary for delivering the website and keeping it secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and is deleted again in accordance with the hosting provider’s rules.
Audience measurement without cookies
To see which content is used and how visitors find our site, we count page views using our own method on our server. No cookies are set, no data is stored in your browser’s storage (e.g. local storage) and no third-party services are embedded. Only information that your browser sends anyway when a page is accessed is transmitted.
For each page view we store: the time, the page accessed (without any appended parameters), the name of the website you came from (only the domain, e.g. “google.de”, not the full address), the type of source derived from it (search engine, social network, direct access, referral), where applicable campaign information from the link (so-called UTM parameters), the device class (smartphone, tablet, desktop) and the browser family (e.g. “Firefox”, without version number). We also count clicks on our telephone number and email address as well as the successful submission of the contact or application form – without content, names or contact details and only with the hour in which it happened; for applications, only which position they relate to. When a form is submitted, we also record the source and landing page through which the visit began. We do not store the checksum described below for clicks and submitted forms; they are therefore not linked to your other page views through it.
We do not store your IP address for this purpose. To count the number of visitors per day, we generate a shortened checksum (hash) from the IP address and browser identifier together with a random value, which we store with each page view. This random value applies only to the day in question and is then replaced by a new one and deleted. After that, the checksum can no longer be traced back to you, and visits on different days cannot be linked to one another.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in designing and improving our services in line with demand (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The data is evaluated exclusively by us, is not passed on to third parties and is automatically deleted after 400 days.
You can object to the counting by activating the “Global Privacy Control” or “Do Not Track” signal in your browser – no page view will then be counted. Access that is recognisably automated (e.g. by search engine crawlers) is not counted either.
Contacting us
If you contact us via the contact form, by email or by telephone, we process the data you provide (name, email address, telephone number if applicable, location and content of the message) in order to handle your enquiry and for any follow-up questions (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Form enquiries are sent to us by email; for this we use the SMTP sending service of our email provider. The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for handling the enquiry and no statutory retention obligations prevent this.
Applications
If you apply via the form on our jobs page, we process the data you provide (name, email address, telephone number if applicable, your message and any documents attached voluntarily) exclusively for the purpose of carrying out the application process (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR in conjunction with § 26 BDSG (German Federal Data Protection Act)).
The application is sent to us by email and processed there; it is not additionally stored in a database on this website. We only accept attached files as PDF, JPG or PNG and only up to a total size of 10 MB.
If you are not hired, we delete your application documents no later than six months after the end of the process, unless you have expressly consented to a longer retention period. If you are hired, the data is transferred to your personnel file.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and the right to object to the processing of your personal data. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority; in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) this is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia).
Note: This privacy policy was drawn up for the current state of the website (no visitor cookies, no third-party services, cookieless audience measurement on our own server, contact and application form sent by email). If features such as map services or third-party analytics tools are added later, it must be extended accordingly.
